Pancake Day!

Shrove Tuesday, Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, whatever you call it, the tradition of eating pancakes on the last day before Lent begins dates back to the 600's.

Lent is a time in the Christian church when we give up something (a favorite food or beverage, social media, TV,...) or take on something (Bible study, daily prayer time, serving at the soup kitchen,...) in order to draw closer to God. Lent is the 40 days, not including Sundays, before Easter and is a reminder of the 40 days that Jesus spent in the wilderness fasting and praying and the sacrifice he made for us when he was crucified.

As far back as the 600s people would give up those things that were considered frivolous or unnecessary for day to day life like milk, eggs, oil, and sugar. Thus was born the tradition of having pancakes on this day. For what better way to use up all of these items than in delicious, mouthwatering pancakes! And bacon!

We hope you'll join us on Tuesday, February 13th, 6:30 PM at The Art Studio, Inc., 720 Franklin St. Beaumont, TX!
